| Heart Beats is a sixteen-page community newspaper published quarterly by Sacred Heart
Parish and mailed free of charge to over 7,000 homes in the Roslindale/Forest Hills area. An additional 1,500 to
2,000 copies are available at stores, banks and the library. The paper is also sent to former
parishioners and friends now living in many places around the country and the world.
We are entering our sixteenth year of publication and have achieved a national reputation for
quality. In fact, the paper is so well received that the
Catholic Press Association awarded
it an honorable mention in the general excellence category at one of its national awards ceremonies.
Heart Beats focuses on the good news present in the Roslindale/Forest Hills community. In addition to local events,
the paper also features inspirational pieces, human-interest stories, profiles of community leaders,
and articles on local businesses and service organizations. One of the sections covers youth news
with an emphasis on areas such as scouting and sports teams, while another is dedicated to seniors and their activities.
Many interesting photographs accompany the articles. In addition, each issue has fun features such as a trivia quiz, an
original poem, or a puzzle suitable for all ages.
The paper is totally self-supporting and does not require funding from the Parish. All its
expenses are paid through the sale of advertising space.
