On Saturday morning, April 10, in a ceremony following the Easter Egg Hunt in Adams Park, The Cooperative Bank's president, Paul Ladouceur, along with members of the Board of Directors and its staff, presented a check for $10,000 to Roslindale Village Main Street for the maintenance and upkeep of Adams Park.
Mayor Tom Menino along with Greg Laham, Vinnie Marino, and Charles McCarthy, representing Roslindale Village Main Street's Board of Directors, accepted the check. Mr. Laham remarked, "Once again the community bank has stepped up to the plate and performed a valuable community service."
Roslindale Village is the only community in the city to have a central green space that can be used not only for special activities and events, but to just sit and talk to friends, enjoy an ice cream, and smell the flowers. Since losing its corporate sponsor, Roslindale Village Main Street has been paying for the upkeep, maintenance and plantings for the park with limited resources and minimal services from the City of Boston.
Mayor Tom Menino presented a plaque to The Cooperative Bank. He thanked the organization for its many contributions, not only to Adams Park, but to Roslindale as a whole, stating, "You've grown as a bank, but you haven't forgotten your roots." The Mayor finished by saying, "You are truly a community institution that knows and understands the meaning of community service. You've been an active supporter of the Roslindale Village Main Street since its inception in 1985, and we thank you."
City Counselor, Rob Consalvo also thanked the Bank for its many contributions and years of service to the Roslindale Community.
